It was a weekend of lots of liberals holding signs and shouting in the streets. There were other groups represented, but there was no cohesive demand or messaging.
there was genuine excitement and energy coming from some who have been pretty asleep the past 8 years, it appears. The fact that 13 million plus came out is significant - it means there are a lot of people fed up and waiting to be told how to change stuff. The problem is who's leading the ones who are fed up. They have no intent in changing anything other than the faces at the top, but not the system that produced all of them.
I got into politics in 2016 listening to Congressional Dish. I began to see things weren’t right at that point. I hadn’t done another deep dive till late last year when I learned of Project 2025. It was then that I became horrified and I’ve been watching everything burn down since then, but I’m also learning about Peter Thiel and the voting fraud through journalist like you. For me I was and still am ignorant. I was also privileged and I own all of that. But I am awake now and I want to do something to slow this dumpster fire. Having this less common knowledge and watching my country turn into rot is maddening and torturous to experience. What’s the hardest and I am sure you all know this and have felt this longer than I….having the knowledge and wanting to bring together 2 people living in completely different realities. To answer your question…for me the No Kings Day was an act of courage. It was daring to expose myself when the threat of violence had increased. It was choosing my values over the fear. It was symbolic and it has brought me to meet new people in my community. So I consider that all to be positive and I am open to all other ideas. I cannot do nothing when I still believe in humanity.
So. I didn’t expect fundamental change from this protest. What I hoped for was to make people who do not like what is going on, but uncomfortable speaking to see enough of us to maybe join us next time. I am advocating for coherent policy positions that we can explain with a road map to achieve them. I am advocating for an open tent that is focused first and foremost in electing people who will be accountable from day one with a network behind them to help them get their policies from inception to implementation, with our biggest goals to rein in this administration, get big money out of politics and wrest control of our country back from billionaires oligarchs. It is a tall order. It won’t happen with protests. I am hoping it can happen with elections. I don’t know how likely it will be that we have a free and fair election at midterms.
To me, this protest was to stand up and be counted. I have been hearing they might try at least a protest a month. I have stage 3a kidney disease, diabetes, and just found out my liver enzymes more than doubled and are like 4x the normal range. I am sure with enough pre planning I can definitely make one protest a month. I will stay vocal on here, learn what I can about policy, share whatever I can with anyone.
I would LOVE to be a part of planning where and how we get there. Let me know if you want to lead the charge?
Nothing still has fundamentally changed. No King’s protest, while yes quite massive, didn’t even inform nor educate to anybody what’s really fueling Trump’s presidency (and Elmo’s shadow presidency)…from Peter Thiel to the crypto industry to BlackRock to Wall Street to corporate media, etc.
Protests are just a part of crisis tourism, the issue matters little.
I thought you guys were beyond the 2 party paradigm. This is a waste of my time. may lead to unsubbing...
I did not see "excitement" from 'No Kings, ONLY Oligarchs' charade paraders. I saw excrement from them.

All I hear is whining about wealthy liberal donors and that Harris would be a failure as president. How would you fix things?

We accomplished a lot. We met the goal of over 3.5% of the population that's required to overthrow this Fascist-in-the-making dictator Trump!

America has been run by clowns for a long time
